for international film and TV dramas all over the world. When in
harbour, these unique film stars are open to visitors.
Pentewan (1 1/4) Miles
The nearest beach with safe bathing.
Polstreath Beach (400 mtrs)
Down the steps to beautiful rocks mingling with the sea and
sands.
Fowey (15 miles)
Another ancient port with narrow winding streets full of interest
to the visitor. Visit the castle which is just a short walk from
the town centre. Take the passenger ferry to historic Poloruan,
or the car ferry across the river and takes you well on your way
to Polperro or Looe.
Caerhays Beach (6 miles)
One of the loveliest beaches in Cornwall, overlooked by truly
magnificent castle, still maintained as a private home.
Gorran Haven (5 Miles)
Dating back to the 13th century, this once
prosperous fishing village offers superb sandy beaches and safe
bathing. There are spectacular views from the cliff top walks,
and many interesting remains of ancient fortresses and camps to
explore.
Mevagissey (450 mtrs)
Stroll through the narrow winding streets and scenic harbour of
the centuries old fishing port, and you will think you are
stepping back in time. Completely unspoilt, photographers
paradise, with picture postcard waiting everywhere you turn your
camera. For fisherman, there are always boats, bait and tackle
for the asking and the local boatmen know all the choice spots
for a good catch.
Porthpean (5 Miles)
A charming old fishing village, well worth exploring. Visit the
old fish cellars now used be the local sailing club.
St Austell (6 Miles)
For a change, take a trip inland where the narrow
winding streets offer a tempting array of shops, modern shopping
precinct, multi-storey car park, and a wide variety of
restaurants and a 5 in one cinema.
Carlyon Bay (7 Miles)
EEC Blue Flag award winning beach. Offers a
selection of Water Sports, Swimming Pool, Amusements,
Entainments, Bars, and various cafes. Great fun for all the
family all day long and for the adults it has a nightclub on the
bay which is open every weekend all year round.
