This
is the uncooked poppadom, it's basically a flat disk. It is called
a papad and is made from mainly urid flour.

The
papad is cooked by either frying, grilling or microwaving. When
you cook the poppadom, it rises and expands due to the heat applied
to it. It cooks in literally seconds.

The
final product, a deliciously crispy snack which can be eaten on
its own or served with chutnies.
