The Open Door Project
The Story so far
The present Parish Church has gone through many changes and developments in its 200 year history.
- 1780 The present Church was built in the Georgian style.
- 1865 The Church was remodelled in the Gothic style.
The chancel was added and the buttresses added to give extra support to the walls.
- 1877 The pews were removed and replaced with chairs
- 1920 The chancel screen was added
- 1968 The nave altar was introduced
- 1982 The present platform was added by the university
- 1994 Planning began for the Redevelopment Project
- 1999 Faculty Approval for the plans received from the Diocese
2000 The Redevelopment Project, now renamed ‘The Open Door Project’ was launched in March
