SOCIAL LIFE WITHIN SCC

The Choir rehearses hard, but still finds time for social relaxation! We believe this is a very important part of choir life! Even during a demanding rehearsal schedule we make time for coffee breaks, pub lunches. and...Real Ale!

With members spread far and wide across the country and beyond.... and with the choir only meeting four times a year, this is a special time for catching up and getting to know new members.

On a broader scale, the summer concert schedule in July lends itself to further activities. Many members take holiday during the week leading up to concert day, beginning with rehearsals on the first weekend. Periodically, our German friends come to sing with us. Events such as barbeques, day trips, barn dances, skittles evenings and rambles take place. We also include cathedral tours, international trips, and an annual visit to the Proms following our summer concert.

Visits to our link choir in Germany have been packed with exhausting fun (together with the more serious singing!). Many of our members can now boast having been to an authentic German Beer Festival, singing lustily to the strains of an oom pah band and learning how to drink from traditional German Steins, which, when full, proved to be a bit of a handful, especially for the female members, who, of course, were not to be defeated!
