![]() SAXPLOITATION
were formed in 1993 and gave their London debut at St-Martin-in-the-Fields
in October 1994. Since then they have performed extensively and to
critical acclaim across the UK and Europe; notably at the Purcell Room
(Park Lane Group Series 1996), Fairfield Hall and the 1996 British
Saxophone Congress. The quartet have also recorded for BBC Radio and TV
(UK and Ulster) and Classic FM. |
Saxploitation has collaborated in projects and workshops with many distinguished musicians and artists, including saxophonist Tim Whitehead, the Random Dance Company and the composer Michael Nyman. Forthcoming performances include a shared concert with the Apollo saxophone quartet at this year's Spitalfields Festival and another at the Brecon Jazz Festival this summer. Saxploitation are currently developing their repertoire with a number of new commissions from up-and-coming British composers and poets for a Best of British UK tour - a musical exploration of the multi-cultural diversity of modern Britain. | ||
