Preparing
For Mission in the New Millennium
Bishop Richard has challenged the Diocese to have:
'a Strategy for Mission for the opening years of the next decade'.
'We need to discover new ways of connecting with people...This will require imagination, faith & risk taking...It will no doubt require new resources as well as old resources applied in new ways.
He is challenging us to move
from maintenance to mission,
and we need to prepare ourselves:
Our weekends away explore the mysteries and secrets of the Kingdom of God. What does it mean to know Christ? Regular Alpha Courses also help to ask this question- helping us to grow in our understanding and commitment to God- helping us prepare for our mission in the next decade.
The Church needs a working hub for parish life (maintenance) AND a viable centre for serving the community (Mission). The Redevelopment Project will enormously improve church facilities and enable us to encourage community activities by offering facilities and support, particularly to small groups.
The renewal of our regular financial commitments is essential to ensure firm foundations for next year. The Redevelopment Fund will be formally launched.
Celebrating
the New Millennium
The coming of Christ into the world 2000 years ago was a turning point in human history. It is right that we celebrate the 2000th anniversary of this life changing event and take the opportunity it offers to reach out into the whole community in the name of Christ.
Launching
our Mission in the New Millennium
The Open Door Project
is a further development in the life of the church. It will enable the Church to be more available to the whole community; provide help and support in new ways and enhance the church as a major focus for worship in the town.
