As I write this, hope seems to be in very short supply at the moment! Britain and America seem on a collision course with Iraq that some say will inevitably lead to war, the terrorist threat continues to escalate and the pension situation is getting worse. Add to that your own particular problems and concerns, and Easter hope and joy seem a very distant impossibility! Yet all around you can see signs of hope. After the gloom of winter, the affects of spring are now being seen in the fields and hedgerows - and in my garden, where the grass already needs cutting! You know in your heart of hearts that the bad times do not last forever, but that you come through them, hopefully stronger and better for the experience. And that resurrection hope is the heart of the message of Easter. God, in Jesus, experienced all the highs and lows which we do in our everyday lives… even the lowest of lows, dying a cruel death on a cross. Yet after three days Jesus was raised from the dead in power and glory. So, no matter how dark the valley that you may be going through, Jesus the light of the world, the one who defeated death and despair can be with you and help you safely through. All you have to do is ask. Have a happy, blessed and hope-filled Easter. Kevin Ashby (Rector)
