BENEFICE PRAYER DIARY

April 2009 

 

Wed 1st April     We pray for the very poor within our cities.  We pray for the reps for the interregnum.

 

Thurs 2nd           We pray for those in hospital locally and for the doctors and nurses who care for them, also in our surgeries.

                        We pray for the infants and junior schools across the benefice.  We pray for the Ladies Group.

 

Fri 3rd                A prayer for all who help clean our Church, also for those who decorate it with flowers.  Thank you for their help, Father.  A prayer for Weekday Lunch in Nash

 

Sat 4th               We pray for those who help with Café Ignite and for those who come.  A prayer for Men’s Breakfast.  We pray for the coffee shop in Whaddon church

 

Sunday 5th        Palm Sunday

                        True and humbled King, hailed by the crowd as Messiah: grant us the faith to know you and love you, that we may be found beside you on the way of the cross, which is the path of glory.

                        We pray for St. John the Evangelist, Radclive.  A prayer for those journeying with Christ during Holy Week.  We pray for Sunday Club and its leaders in Whaddon Chapel.  A prayer for the Ignite service in Buckingham.

 

Mon 6th            Our prayers for the areas of conflict in Columbia, one of the major drug producers in the world.  A prayer for Christian leaders who are often targeted as they stand against violence.  We pray for YAGS.  A prayer for Buckingham’s house groups.

 

Tues 7th              We pray for the Quicken Trust and the work they do in                            Uganda.

 

Wed                 We pray for all those seeking spiritual direction.

                        We pray for Churches Together and for neighbours of different religions in our cities, nationally, that they may live peacefully. 

 

Thurs 9th          Maundy Thursday

We pray for the Chrism Mass in Christchurch Cathedral (blessing of the oils).  We pray for Holy Communion followed by the Watch of Passion in Buckingham.

 

Fri 10th            Good Friday

                        Eternal God, in the cross of Jesus we see the cost of our sin and the depth of your love: in humble hope and fear may we place at his feet all that we have and all that we are, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

                        We pray for Lent Meditation.

 

Sat 11th             In the depths of our isolation we cry to you, Lord God;

                        Give light in our darkness and bring us out of the prison of our despair; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

                        We pray for Children’s Easter Workshop. A prayer for the Service of Light in Buckingham

 

Sunday 12th      Easter Day

                        God of Glory, by the raising of your Son you have broken the chains of death and hell: fill your Church with faith and hope; for a new day has dawned and the way to life stands open in our Saviour Jesus Christ.

                        Our prayers for St. Mary’s Thornborough and for all the services in the benefice over the Easter period.

 

Mon 13th            Our prayers for Rotary in our area.  We pray for all those on holiday that they may be refreshed.

 

Tues 14th           We pray for Market day Lunch.  Our prayers for Thornborough community, especially after the closing of the post office which had been a social network 

Wed 15th           A prayer for Holy Communion in Buckingham.  We pray for all those involved in drawing up Parish and Benefice profiles.

 

Thurs 16th          A prayer for Buckingham Secondary school.  We pray for Whaddon Bible Study.  We pray for the Quaker meeting in Buckingham.  Our prayers for Inspire Group

 

Fri 17th             Christ himself is our peace.

 

Sat 18th             Our prayers for Churchyard Clean up.  A prayer for Café Ignite.  We pray for St. Mary’s Whaddon. 

 

Sunday 19th      Risen Christ, for whom no door is locked, no entrance barred: open the doors of our hearts that we may seek the good of others and walk the joyful road of sacrifice and peace, to the praise of God the Father.

A prayer for All Saints’, Nash.  We pray for the crèche and Sunday and School in Buckingham.  We pray for the sermons about Women in the Old Testament, beginning with Eve.  A prayer for Path Finders and K2, meeting this evening. A prayer for the crèche and Sunday School in Buckingham

 

Mon 20th          A prayer for Whaddon School and for schools as they return.  We pray for Whaddon Prayer Group.  A prayer for Thornborough AGM

 

Tues 21st           We pray for Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury.  A prayer for AGM, Radclive

 

Wed 22nd         A prayer for Baby and Toddler Church.  We pray for the local Ministry Team.  A prayer for Nash AGM.

 

Thurs 23rd          We pray for our nation to-day.  A prayer for the Choir and Music groups and thank you Father for their lovely contribution to our services.

 

Fri 24th                We pray for Amanda Bailey who is doing 3 months voluntary work in Mombasa.

                       

Sat 25th             As St Mark is the Patron Saint of Africa we pray for Zimbabwe in particular.  We pray for the wedding at Thornborough of Tim Hodges and Louise Barrett.  We pray for the Nash Safari Supper.

 

Sunday 26th      Almighty Father, who in your great mercy gladdened the disciples with the sight of the risen Lord;  give us such knowledge of his presence with us, that we may be strengthened and sustained by his risen life.

We pray for the Baptism of Henry Dayer-Smith and for his parents Laura and Jonathan who are all coming over from Singapore.
