Subscription Payment and Conditions for Membership

Dear Choir Member,

The choir enjoys an ever-growing reputation for its high standards and excellence in choral music. As members we are privileged to be part of a team directed by one of the UK’s most innovative and experienced conductors of choral music. Since the formation of the choir in 1984, we have worked with some of the best soloists and musicians in the UK.

To ensure our reputation for excellence, especially in meeting the demands of realistically challenging repertoire, it is imperative that there is absolute clarity regarding conditions of membership; all choir members need to be clear about the vital contribution they make regarding participation to concerts, rehearsal attendance and punctuality. It is only through the co-operation of all members that standards are kept and which are cherished since the formation of the choir.

We kindly ask all members to agree the following points and conditions, agreed by The Somerset Chamber Choir Committee:

Concert dates and rehearsal dates and times are published via newsletters and on the web-site at least 6 months in advance to ensure maximum attendance by members.

The choir currently holds two or three concerts a year. In order to ensure balance of voice parts as well as quality of output, choir members are expected to take part in both concerts.

Full attendance at all rehearsals is expected. Any unavoidable reasons that prevent attendance to a whole rehearsal weekend, or part of a rehearsal, must be communicated to the choir secretary as soon as possible.

Please note that inability to attend a whole rehearsal weekend (or a large part thereof) is likely to mean that you will need to miss that particular concert. The committee reserves the right to make the final decision, based on musical ability and/or other circumstances.

Please note that an all day rehearsal before any concert is obligatory for all members.

Choir members are expected to arrive at least 5 minutes before the scheduled rehearsal start time. Lateness causes disruption to rehearsals.

Choir members are expected to look after any music given to them on hire by the choir. In the event of losing copies, members will be expected to pay for the music in full.

Members Statement

I have read the above and agree to conform to the points outlined above.

I enclose my subscription payment of £60 Full / £30 (student) (circle one).
