Who cares?
It’s a sad fact that the end of the 20th Century is being seen as a time when people are so busy getting on with their lives that they don’t always have time for themselves- let alone for other people.
Life can be a struggle just trying to keep afloat especially when we’re low, alone, stressed out or feel nobody really understands where we are. We begin to wonder if anyone really cares!
Lots of different people found that Jesus was a person who really understood them. This included all sorts of people from businessmen to tax collectors; from housewives to prostitutes. They experienced such acceptance, love and caring that it changed their lives.
The human state hasn’t changed much. We still make a mess of things; hurt one another; carry burdens that can seem too hard to bear. It’s the longing of God’s heart that each person should know they are special and have a place where they feel accepted and affirmed; where they feel part of the community. At St. Peter & St. Paul’s we do care…
We are very concerned that the church becomes a place for everyone: men; women; young; old; strong; weak; locals; visitors. We recognise that we’re all different; that what is very special to one person may seem strange to another.
