Mick Abrahams Band - What can one say? THE Mick
Abrahams, out to spellbind you with a pedigree band you'd sacrifice your
right one to hear. If you haven't heard Mick, you have seriously
missed out. If you haven't heard OF Mick, get back under that stone.
Usual Suspects' - Ben, Mitch and Crippsy breathe
new life into a variety of tunes, with plenty of slap, wah-wah, tight skins
and cool rhythms. Prepare to be surprised - you will be!
Blue Jam - Nearly 100 years in the business (and
there are only three of them!), Terry Marshall (saxophones), Trevor Jeavons
(keyboards) and Ian Anderson (string bass and bass guitar) pump out some
of the liveliest jazz, blues and boogie you can throw a swinging cat at.
Dave King's Allstar Jazzband - What a pleasure
to have the Allstars back to start the out-door proceedings! All hugely
experienced pro and semi pro jazzmen, they specialise in tasty arrangements
of beautiful swing tunes played with style. Come and dig them in the garden
at 2.30!
Michelle Welborn Band - One of the finest voices
around lending itself to a jazzy/bluesy set specially for this occasion.
If you haven't heard 'Cold and Raw' and 'Bad Wine' from her latest CD you
haven't really had your knees turn to jelly.
The Hoodoos - A long way in a short time for this
newish band of blues veterans, led by Australian Steve Swift and fronted
by the irrepessible Tracy Walters, he of the great voice and harp
and shy, modest performance (well, perhaps not). Add some terrific jazz
influenced piano and drums, and a bunch of classic R&B numbers - that's
The Hoodoos.
Mojo - Nick Bennett, former Beneficials and Bullfrogs
lead guitarist, has got his Mojo working - and it WILL work on you. Zapped
everybody during Stony Live! week, and rocking fit to burst. Definately
NOT hokum - just immaculate electric blues.
The Revelators - The merging of '4 til late with
two members of the Mick Pini Band has produced a mature and experimental
band, taking blues classics (and some very fine original songs) and branding
them with the 'Revelators' style. 4 til late were the 'find' of last years
festival, and it's another acoustic set this year too - beware those tom-toms! |
