CMI Telecaster Copy c.1980

I got this when I swapped a Squier Strat for it. I was after a Tele and I tried it out and found it to be a more than reasonable copy. Since then, I've tried a few Teles, including USA Standard models, and I haven't found one I like better than this. 

Some work needed doing on it. as well as a basic set-up, I had to realign the neck and I ended up having to chisel out the neck pocket a bit to get a better fit. I also upgraded the tuners and installed Grovers.

This is the guitar I pick up when I feel a bit like playing some country or soul. I occasionally use it in the soul band I'm in, but I prefer the Strat for some reason, even though the King of Soul Guitarists - Steve Cropper - used a Tele for his classic soul playing.
