Welcome to my webpage!

Here's some info about me and this webpage.........

My name is Steve Cobham and I live in Wolverton, which is part of the city of Milton Keynes in the U.K.

I'm a guitar and bass teacher, so there'll be plenty about guitars on these pages in the future.

I play in a band called "Eleven After Midnight" and we cover Stax and Tamla Motown songs. It's a lot of fun, so try to catch us if you can.

I've started to make MP3s of various bands I've been with over the past 30 odd years and you can access these by clicking on the button to your left.

If you click on the "Guitar Set-up" button to the left, you can read a series of tutorials that I've written which I hope you'll find useful. Topics dealt with include adjusting the truss rod, bridge and nut, as well as a lot of other tips that will help you to keep your guitar in peak playing condition.

When I'm not teaching guitar, or playing it, I like to relax by reading - my favourite author is Stephen King - and also writing. I've had some articles published in the magazine "Sound On Stage" and I aim to get more articles published in other publications. One day, I'm going to write the novel they say is in all of us.

My favourite bands and musicians are Frank Zappa, Jimi Hendrix, Danny Gatton and the Byrds. You'll find more out about these people if you follow the links.

I'm always interested in trading tapes by these artists. Just e-mail me if you see anything you want as you find out all about my favourite music.

I also enjoy "hot" food - things like curries and chili. I enjoy cooking my own dishes. That way you can adjust the proportions and quantities of the herbs and spices and cook yourself a meal that is just to your precise taste. The best thing to drink with this sort of food, is beer. I like it all. Draught, bottled and canned - I have rarely found a beer that didn't hit the spot at one time or another.

Talking of beer.......every month I taste a choice selection of premium bottled beers and announce a winner of my own "Beer Of The Month" (BOTM) award. At the end of the year, I also announce the overall winner of "Beer Of The Year" (BOTY).

"The Dangerous Kitchen" is now serving! Check out some delicious recipes from the denizens of the alt.fan.frank-zappa newsgroup.

I also enjoy using my PC for work and leisure. I subscribe to several newsgroups and enjoy being able to discuss things with people from all over the world who share the same interests as myself.

If you live in the Birmingham or Milton Keynes area (UK), why not find out what my ISP - Powernet - has to offer?
