Geological Map of the World 2nd Edition (Paper wall map) Scale: 1: 25 000 000. Designed and coordinated by Ph. Bouysse (CGMW), in collaboration with international specialists and Geological Surveys. 2000, wall map, new edition, three sheets: Old World; New World; Polar areas and legend; 210 x 100 cm. Bilingual: English, French. This map is essential for anyone interested in the geology of our planet. This second edition of this basic reference improves upon the first in a number of ways. It has been entirely revised to show a clear distinction between sedimentary, volcanic extrusive, and endogenous dated formations. The geology of the oceans has been also updated according to the most recent magnetic and satellite-gravimetric data. Positions of the main volcanoes and meteoritic craters were added to the map, and its new cartographic conception allows a rapid visual reconstruction of the main plates and sub-plates of the global tectonics. The Mercator projection provides a choice of centering the assembled maps either on the Atlantic (to emphasize the sea-floor spreading and subsequent continental drift) or on the Pacific (for the phenomenon of subduction with the "Ring of Fire"). There is a clearly distinguishable contrast between the continents, where rocks may attain an age of up to nearly 4 billion years, and the oceanic crust, not exceeding 200 million years. This map is also a major teaching aid for geology and geography lecturers. Also available in vector-digital format, see below.

Geological Map of the World - Vector-Digital Version (ArcInfo Export)
2000, Cd-Rom, Bilingual: English, French
This second edition of the Geological Map of the World (available on paper as well as on Cd-Rom, see above) has been entirely revised and is now presented in vector-digital format. This is a considerable improvement on other available datasets. The ArcInfo software provides all vectorised geo-referenced data in E00 formats allowing a flexible manipulation of data according to users requirements: transformation into any kind of projection, export and updating of data, insertion of new layers, printing out adjustable to any format, etc.
Vector-digital version on CD - WORGLM002D - £150.00 or US$225.00

Maps of the World Environments During the Last Two Climatic Extremes (Climex Maps) 1:25,000,000. 1999, 2 sets of 2 sheets each. Two map sets showing the global environment at the time of the last two climatic extremes, i.e. at the Last Glacial Maximum when the average temperature of the earth was 4.5ºC lower than present and at the Holocene Optimum when it was 2ºC higher. This map is very thought-provoking and interesting in view of the current debate re global warming and its effects. With explanatory notes. Size of the assembled sheets: 192 x 103 cm.

Mineral Atlas of the World 1:10,000. Sheet 9: Europe and Neighbouring Countries. On the same lines as the Geological World Atlas, depicts mineral deposits of about 50 countries. WORMNB001 (Sheet 9) - £20.00.
World Topography - ONC 1:1,000,000 and TPC 1:500,000 Aeronautical Charts. These charts provide the best worldwide topographic coverage for large sections of the Earth's surface. Each TPC covers one quarter of the area covered by an ONC. TPCs are specified by adding the relevant suffix letter for the quarter of the ONC e.g. ONC D7 (Siberia) is subdivided into TPCs D7A (NW), D7B (NE), D7C (SE) and D7D (SW). Please note that ONCs are sometimes available where TPCs are not. WORTPM001 - ONC £5-00 each, WORTPM002 - TPC £6-00 each.

Superb value map!
Geological Map of the World 1:32 000 000. Open University, 1994, 1 sheet. A very clear & colourful map which demonstrates dramatically the distribution and ages of the rocks of the continental and oceanic crusts, and shows the differences in distribution patterns. Additional information includes diagrams showing the changing configuration of the continents over the past 500 million years, a small map of the world showing the main tectonic plates and a diagram showing the activity of oceanic tectonic plates, and some questions to test basic understanding of earth processes. This map is very useful for understanding and teaching the evidence for the plate tectonic model. A very attractive map. Excellent value for money. Price discounts available for quantity orders (e.g. class sets). 1520 x 1010 mm. WORGLM001 - £7-50 (paper), WORGLM001L - £17-50 (laminated).
"This Dynamic Planet" - World Map of Volcanoes, Earthquakes and Plate Tectonics 1:30 000 000. 1989. Striking, attractive and highly informative map which shows volcanoes in age groups, earthquakes in magnitude groups, plate motion with velocity, plate boundaries with type and generalised relief and bathymetry. Explanatory notes printed on the map, but see item below also. Price discounts available for quantity orders (e.g. class sets). 1490 x 1015 mm. WORTTM001 - £12-50 (paper), WORTTM001L - £22-50 (laminated). LATEST NEWS 27th Feb 2006 - currently unavailable, we are trying to locate supplies but believe the map to be out of print, so this will not be easy and might well be impossible. The same applies to the booklet below. LATER NEWS 2nd March 2006 - we have a few paper copies on the way to us from a foreign retailer; these will be at least £25 each, and will be sold on a first come, first serve basis.
