Loz's Hobbies

Games

I spend far too much of my free time on the computer. Some of it is playing games. I've had a quick stab at putting together a top 10 of my favourite games.

  1. Civilization III
  2. Dungeon Siege
  3. Lords of Midnight
  4. Return to Castle Wolfenstein
  5. Empire Earth
  6. Neverwinter Nights
  7. Age of Mythology
  8. Colonization
  9. Frozen Bubble
  10. Morrowwind

Programming

It is a bit sad that I program in my spare time, when I also spend a a lot of my working life programming too. I like the freedom of being unconstrained by budgetary concerns. At home I run a Linux network, where I build the machines myself. I also do some testing for the Mozilla and Gnome projects. Of course if I find bugs in other applications on my system, I'm always happy to report and investigate them too.

Music

I occasionally play my guitar. I was a bass player in a band when I was at college. Now I mainly just listen to music. A brief look at the CDs by the computer reveal that I'm currently listening to music by:

Reading

I love to read fantasy and science fiction novels. I also have a penchant for technical books, about mathematics or computing. My favourite authors include David Gemmell, Terry Pratchett and Iain M. Banks. I find it a great shame that Clint Eastwood was never given the chance to play Jon Shannow in a film.
