A continuous record of the conditions inside a building and the operation of its heating and cooling systems can give vital insight into the reasons for energy bills which are higher than expected or overheating problems.
At EMC we have access to the entire spectrum of monitoring systems. Using miniature data loggers the size of a 35mm film a comprehensive picture of the conditions within a building can be obtained with a minimum of disruption. The company has developed proprietary software which allows the results from large numbers of such loggers (sometimes more than 100) to be quickly downloaded, and the data managed and analysed for rapid turnaround of results.
For longer term projects we keep a range of more tradiational data acquisition equipment, including sensors for temperature, humidity, light levels, air flow, water flow, heat flow, electrical power and, of course, all climate variables. To acquire the data from these sensors we have a range of loggers, from compact battery powered units accommodating eight channels up to PC based systems with real time graphical display and telephone access to data.
In buildings with an Energy Management System it may be possible to interface the required sensors directly to the existing system, providing a low cost, integrated, solution to the problem of long term data acquisition.
