The Energy Monitoring Company is fully equipped to carry out short term tests to determine the heat loss through elements of a building (U-values) or whole building heat loss (UA-value).
In whole building tests a constant temperature is maintained over a period of several days, using carefully metered heating plant. In combination with measurements of the climate during the test the resulting energy consumption gives a measure of the building specific heat loss, and hence of the capability of the installed heating plant to provide adequate comfort levels.
For tests on parts of a building we use heat flow metering to determine the energy loss through individual building elements. The Energy Monitoring Company is in the privileged position of being able to assess these types of measurements in a highly controlled test environment, TEST ROOM 3000. Using the experience gained there we can apply sophisticated instrumentation to a wide range of problems in real buildings with total confidence. The results of these tests can highlight inadequate insulation levels and other construction defects, or provide component test results.
