Injustice !!!!!!  FREE LOUISE WOODWARD

Has justice really come down to this ?  I can't believe the state of the American legal system.  The sad fact as well, is that if the UK  doesn't watch out we could end up the same.
Hasn't this poor girl suffered enough ?
It really makes me sick !!!

Update.(29/08/98)

The more discerning visiters may have suddenly thought "hang on this looks different" but, were at a loss to explain why.  My web site empire is expanding *L*,  I have updated and changed some aspects of mysite (for example : did anyone notice the many differences with the options frame ?),  If you search though my site carefully enough you will be able to find an example of things to come !!

There are pages which are linked deeply within the website, they are there for the purpose of trial and also to allow my friends to have a look.  But, seek and you shall find.

Bugs Buggery More Like. (29/08/98)

Sitting here typing this and thinking back to this evening, you see I can't believe I watched a whole episode of "Bugs" on BBC1 (for my international patrons).  The corney techy, computery kinda devision of the Government having exciting adventures, with the actors all taking it so seriously,  it really cracks me up.  Though I did notice and will pay due credit to the fac that when the Bugs team are looking at important documents on the screen it isn' in crappy low resolution, with the words appearing on the screen as they discuss and unveal the simplistic plot to the audience.  One thing that has alwasy bothered me about bugs, is the fact that the actress who plays Roz (the team leader) used to be head of CID in "The Bill£ on ITV (for those foreign visiters) which is another one of the programmes I rather like.  She was a tough female boss of a largely dominated male department in the Bill, then a quick exit into Bugs, along with Craig McLauglan (whose whitting anecdotes made it slightly less nausia enducing) though he is sadly missed from the programme.  Hey, the other two members of the team are from that unpalitable heap (namely Elderado) and that woman from Howards Way.

I just find it hard to watch this cheesy "high - tech" carefully explaned to the audience (over simplified garbage) / Famous Five post pubety programme.

Background.

As regular patrons will no doubt notice,  there is a nice new marble background to my web site. After many months of resistance and my dedication to the cause of aerodynamics, I decided to add the backgrounds. I might add however, that I am still not convinced,  sure I like it but, the smaller text is not quite as clear.

Note:  If you feel that this has slowed my web site down too much then let me know.

Tony Blair parle français ?

I was watching Tony Blair (or Tony Blur as I call him) giving his speech to the French parliment today (23/3/98), our prime minister doing his bit talking (giving all his usual manorisms) in another language.  I find this uncomfortable to watch,  not sure why, perhaps I was watching some-one make a fool of themselvesf but, do you know what ? I gained alot of respect for him.

I am very much a Euro-phile and as you may know I also love France passionately, as a French speaker of nearly 10 years I seem to have this thing about not liking anybody speaking French who can't , becasue they usually make a fool of themselves or even worse make fun of the language (French is very beautiful and I dislike this attitude)
However,  Tony  carried his speech of with imense professionalism , good pronouniation aswell (though  as bashfull as I am I would admit to having far better) and most importantly getting his message across.  At the end of the speech the French parliment applauded enthusiastically and I smiled as I thought to my self "nice one Tony".

For many years I have felt ashaimed of Native English speakers who adopt a lazy attitude towards other cultures and languages, when you talk to French people  in their language,  whether you are good or bad you gain respect for at the very least trying, making an effort and showing that you are willing to meet them at least halfway.

*LOL* that reminds me of the time I had a lengthy conversation with a French man about buying some multi-positional garden chairs !!!  I think I impessed him  or atleast I made him think not all English speakers are lazy !

Confusion

Here is something interesting that I discovered during my study of French.  I thought it was rather amusing,  basically it is how very similar words can mean slightly different things :
not to be confused with :

Classics

Ok,  you have a big powerful computer and what is one of the most common pastime of computer people ?  emulation,  I currently  spend ages reliving my youth on Win64 (when it works properly) and  MAME.  It's quite amusing really that people with big powerful computers have taken to using them to emulate classic computers  dwarfed by theirs.  I seem to spend allot of time playing Mr Do !  (classic arcade game),  on my PC through M.ulti A.rcade M.achine E.mulator.
I might just as well sell my K5 166 PC  and dig out my Commodore 64 and invest in an Atari 2600 !!!!!

Penny for a Guy ?

Is it me or a kids starting this earlier and earlier every year ?
That's young enterprise I guess !

Rain.

Murphy's law would state that it would literally pour down just when I decide I should have brought my umbrella down to uni with me.  Kinda the rains way of getting it's own back by soaking me while I went out to buy a new umbrella.
C`est la vie.

New BBC Commercial Trailer.

Blimey, they didn't pull an punches with that one. Not one star but a multitude of them. representing a broad spectrum of music the stars in question appear to sing individual lines of the classic Lou Reed song "Perfect day".

Starting with the man himself MR Reed who sings the first line followed by Bono and many others including Elton John, Tom Jones, Huey (from FLC), M People`s songstress, Bret from Suede and several artists from Blues, Reggae, Classical, Opera and a couple of Country singers.

Well done BBC , I like it allot after seeing it for the first time this week (starting 22nd Sept. `97) I was a little bemused at the grand scale but, none the less impressed.

BTW. this was another one of their adverts to show the "unique way" its funded and what it allows them the possibilities to do.

Outstanding.

BBC Web Page.

September 25th.

Registration at university today. Surprisingly it was very quick and unlike last year I did not have to spend hours (literally) in a queue.

Wow, a few new societies at the Freshers fair and I was please to note there there was in fact a Society for a certain category of music I like so, needless to say I very quickly visited that stall.

Societies.

University.

Just recently returning to University for my second year has been some thing I have been a little anxious about. A different house with different people and a wholly new room to stylish and make one's own. Not dreading the experience so much as struggling to contain an image of making a mistake and under-succeeding the 2 semesters of educational but above all social life. University is an interesting experience that I would recommend to many people. my first year taught me how to become a mum and mother myself in such aspects as washing etc.
